28 Feb. § 1.
50. Miscarriage.––If any person shall, by means of any instrument or instruments, or any other means whatever, cause any pregnant woman to miscarry, or shall attempt to procure or produce such miscarriage, the person so offending shall be deemed guilty of a high misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be confined in the penitentiary, for a period not less than two, nor more than ten years.

51. If any person shall, in the attempt to produce the miscarriage of a pregnant woman, thereby cause and produce the death of such woman, the person so offending shall be deemed guilty of murder, and shall be punished as the law requires for such offense.

52. The provisions of this act shall not apply to any person, who procures or attempts to produce the miscarriage of any pregnant woman, for bona fide medical or surgical purposes.
